- Place the basil leaves, garlic, cheese, and pine nuts into the bowl of a food processor and pulse several times.
- While the food processor is running, slowly add the olive oil. Adding the olive oil slowly while the processor is running will help it emulsify and help keep the olive oil from separating. ( scrape down the sides of the food processor).
- Finally, add the salt to taste.
- For making the pasta: Fill a large pot with salted water and bring to a boil. Stir in pasta and return to a boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and transfer into a large bowl.
- Add the pesto sauce to the cooked pasta and mix well. taste it and see if it needs salt or pepper, and season to taste.
